• Options apart from downhill skiing and snowboard in winter & spring include backcountry ,randonnée, touring with sled and dogs & walking with snow shoes through diverse and dramatic landscapes. Ask us for information.
• One of the more challenging routes is to ascend Volcano Lonquimay to be rewarded with 360 degree views of the snow capped Andes mountain range with her many volcanoes and views into the wide-mouthed crater. One can ski into the crater, now that is a buzz!
• Chile Wild has a 120 hectare conservation property & offer a unique opportunity in spring to do some off-the-beaten track randonée, backcountry ski/splitboard or snowshoeing in pristine Monkey Puzzle forest and above the snowline towards Sierra Nevada in Conguillio National Park.

• We can help you arrange your ski hire so that you waste less time when you arrive, let us know what you need and when you need it.
• There are several options for ski and snowboard hire as well as mountaineering equipment. There are less options for ski clothes so try and come prepared with gloves, pants, jackets and goggles. Curacautín, ½ hour drive away is the nearest town where some ski clothes may be found if you can´t find what you need in Malalcahuello.

• If you don´t have a car to get to the ski field on Volcano Lonquimay, we offer a shuttle service, just ask us for details.
• There are a range of public and private transport options for getting to Malalcahuello but at this stage no buses that go regularly to the ski centre.

• In spring we offer guided tours in our private conservation property of 120 hectares & into Conguillio National Park
• Take our farm tour, get to know the milk goats by name and taste the cheese and ice cream we produce on site
• We can assist you in arranging guided randonnée ski/snowboard/splitboard tours with qualified and experienced guides.

• On non-ski days or for non-skiiers, an attractive option is to visit one of the four thermal baths in the area and the many restaurants.
• There are four thermal baths within 1.5 hours drive from Malalcahuello. The closest, within 1km of town, is Las Termas de Malalcahuello, which boast a large indoor pool and spa with a beautifully crafted Oregon pine roof and walls, situated amongst generous and well maintained gardens.
• Las Termas de Manzanar were built in 1954 and are the oldest built baths in the area. The hotel and restaurant shows off their historical Araucaria timber construction, a prized timber but no longer permitted to be used.
• Cañon del Blanco is 40 minutes away from the cabins by car and are the only thermal baths that are nocturnal. These pools are located outside amongst native trees and shrubs which offer privacy between the pools.One can also travel from there by horse or 4WD to some other pools and restaured bathtubs with thermal water  surrounded by native forest and a freshwater creek which allows you to mix the cold and hot water to your preferred temperature
• Las Termas de Malleco are a little further away. This centre boasts a natural geyser within a small cave where the water comes out at 86oC. A thermal pool is located in the garden, surrounded by vegetation. The restaurant offers typical Chilean cuisine.

• Cycling along the route of the old steam train is a scenic route for all the family, the distance is 24km round trip
• Mountain bike options is possible on many of the dirt roads in and around Malalcahuello and Volcano Lonquimay. Off road technical trails are more limited as there are not many routes within the National Parks and reserves that permit mountain bike.

We can assist you in organising kayak and rafting tours on river Cautín from ½ day easy to to full day moderate intensity. Both offer peaceful and exciting moments, surrounded by native vegetation and birdlife. The water is glacial and comes from snow melt on the surrounding mountains. There are options for kayaking on various lakes in the area.

We have arrangements with three experienced horseriding providers in the area. Be sure to bring long pants and appropriate shoes and notify us if you want assistance with organising the tour for you.

• Pehuenche/Mapuche tours: a range of cultural tours are available learning about Pehuenche culture and meeting local indigenous families. Your participation in their tours greatly improves the wellbeing of the families and are very recommendable. They include trekking, horseriding, ski, lagoon sport, skate & traditional food. • Chile Wild conservation park: this is a self-guided or guided option in our 120 hectare Monkey Puzzle forest that adjoins Conguillio National Park. Options vary on difficulty, altitude and length so ask us for details but this option is one not to be missed if you like hiking. It has views of at least 3 volcanoes, spectacular alpine flowers in summer and even the possibility of a lagoon swim.
