Thermal Baths near Conguillío National Park
Within the Araucanía region in the central-south of Chile the following thermal baths are located:
- Cañón del Blanco, located in a beautiful valley of native beech forest at the foot of Volcano Sierra Nevada;
- Manzanar Thermal Baths , 18 kilómetros from Curacautín;
- Malleco Thermal Baths, 33km from Curacautín;
- Termas de Malalcahuello, located at the foot of Volcano Lonquimay
The thermal baths all have restaurants and accommodation, there are also many holiday chalets to rent in the surrounding area . Other places of interest close by include Corralco ski resort at the foot of Volcano Lonquimay and of course, Conguillío National Park and Volcano Llaima.
Properties of thermal water
Thermal baths are highly recommended for their calming and healing properties. They are noted for their ability to assist with respiratory conditions, rhuematoid arthritis, maintenance of soft, pliable skin. They reportedly improve the circulation and oxigenate the blood plus eliminate germs and toxins from the body.
The two types of thermal waters, according to their origin, are magmatic and teluric. The magmatic thermal water is hotter, above fifty degrees celcius (122 F) and have more minerals. In Chile where there is much volcanic and tectonic activity, one can find thermal baths in many places.
