Thermal baths in Malalcahuello

If you are thinking of visiting the thermal baths in or close to Malalcahuello, it is always advisable to reserve your entry to the baths and your accommodation in advance, particularly during school holidays and long weekends.

Malalcahuello thermal baths

Approximatley 1km from the town of Malalcahuello are the Termas de Malalcahuello.  The thermal waters have been diverted into a large indoor pool which offers protection from inclement winter weather.

Las Termas de Malalcahuello has been constructed out of oregan pine in an attractive parkland setting. their accommodation includes a 27 bed hotel and cabins.  Close by there are a large selection of alternative accommodation. Manzanar thermal baths

When you enter the foyer of the thermal baths of Manzanar, you are transported back in time to the 1960´s when guests of the thermal baths arrived by steam train.  The hotel has been renovated since that time but vestiges of it´s history remain such as the large roof beams fashioned out of the endangered Araucaria araucana or Monkey Puzzle tree which is now protected.

The thermal bath is an outdoor pool and jacuzzi in a garden setting next to the Cautín River which you can hear when you are bathing in the pool.  They also have a couple of timber thermal hot tubs next to the river.

The Hotel has 10 rooms and a restaurant which serves typical Chilean food. There are not many alternative accommodation options in the small rural town of Manzanar, the majority are in Malalcahuello or along the main highway between Curacautín and Malalcahuello.

Nocturnal thermal baths Cañon del Blanco

Of the three thermal baths closest to Malalcahuello, Cañon del Blanco are the most natural in terms of their setting yet still easily reached by car. The owners run a transfer service in peak times between Malalcahuello and the baths; the journey is approximately 40 minutes.  Each bath is nestled into the surrounding bushland in different sectors of the property.

One of their bathing areas is l 6 km (3.7 mi) from the reception and reachable by horse, car or walking. They are open from 11am but close much later than the thermal baths of Manzanar and Malalcahuello, in peak times they close at midnight. It´s quite a special experience to be bathing in warm water whilst looking at the milky way in the dark night sky.

Cañon del Blanco offers lodge style accommodation as well as camping or homestays with their neighbouring farming families. Alerternative accommodation can be found in Curacautín or Malalcahuello.
