Location

Corralco ski centre is located 700km to the south of Santiago within Malalcahuello/Nalcas National Reserve on Volcano Lonquimay.

Summer at Corralco

Summer is the season where you can find tranquility and obtain great discounts on accommodation in Malalcahuello. Activities available include trekking (guided or self-guided), mountain bike, rafting & kayak. The Malalcahuello/Nalcas Reserve has numerous opportunities for trekking in and around the Corralco resort and CONAF park entrances. Malalcahuello makes a great base for venturing into Argentina around Bariloche and Patagonia.

Winter Corralco – at a glance

Corralco offers skiing for all levels and offers especially good beginner to intermediate slopes. The main downfall is that it can be subject to wind and as for many ski centres in Chile, has few chair lifts that are quite slow and more pommels which are tiring on the legs.

In peak times during July school holidays there can be occasional traffic jams, however, compared to other bigger centres Corralco remains pleasantly free of crowds, and sometimes you can feel that you have the slopes to yourself. The snow is good quality and the centre often stays open longer in the season than other centres in Chile, in good years it stays open to the end of October or early November

  • Skiable area: 1.800 hectares above the treeline
  • Pistes: 29. Advanced & expert runs from the top of Volcano Lonquimay, very good beginner slopes
  • Ski Lifts: 6 (4 pommel, 2 chairlift)
  • Snow depth: 7m average

Skiing off-piste

Corralco ski centre and the surrounding mountains offer ample scope for skiing off piste in stunning landscapes using the ski lifts, ski-mobiles or taking non-motorised tours with backcountry guides.For example, The Aranales is a quaint broken-down indigenous/municipal ski centre which now has a refugio offering hot meals and a base for exploring areas away from Corralco ski centre for those wanting more tranquility. Chile Wild cabins in Malalcahuello also offer ski tours through their private conservation property into Conguillio National Park with expert guides.
